Social Media Threat Against Miami-Dade School Deemed Illegitimate

A Miami-Dade school is assuring parents that there is no need for worry after a social media threat against the establishment was found over the weekend.

Parents of students at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, located at 500 SW 127th Ave in Miami, received an email from the school’s principal, Jose Roca, and school president Fr. Guillermo Garcia-Tunon saying that officials were aware of the threat made. The email did not give details about the nature of the threat.

Officials said authorities were contacted and the situation was resolved. The school is open as normal Monday.

The unknown threat is the latest in South Florida in the wake of the mass school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on February 14th.
