Corporate workers in South Florida are gearing up to run a 5K in Downtown Miami this evening.
The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run begins at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Over 28,000 runners are expected to run 3.1 miles, beginning at Bayfront Park ( 301 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami).
According to the event's website, "The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run presented by Turkish Airlines is an institution in South Florida and is one of the largest 5K races in the nation.
"It's hard to believe it began in 1985 as part of the Manufacturers Hanover Corporate Challenge race series. Drawing in local runners who were hooked on the benefits of running and keeping fit."
During tonight's festivities, traffic is expected to be detoured in the area.
If you are north of NW / NE 4th Street, west of the Miami River or south of Biscayne Blvd. Way, closures will NOT affect you.
