Miami Beach Considering Tourism Tax Revenue

Miami Beach is considering different solutions that will help make up for recently-lost tourism dollars.

According to reports by local news outlets, the city is thinking about taking out an insurance policy for resort tax revenue to help fill unexpected budget gaps.

If the city decides to go that route, it would become the first in the nation to insure tourism tax revenue.

Miami Beach's tourism industry has taken a hit in recent years due a number of factors, including:

  • Brazil's flagging economy
  • A strong U.S. dollar
  • The Zika scare
  • Hurricane Irma
