Florida Receiving $1 Million Towards Fighting Opioid Epidemic

Some big bucks are headed to the Sunshine State in support of the state's fight against the opioid epidemic.

The Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association announced on Capitol Hill Wednesday that it will receive $1 million dollars from the Aetna Foundation.

The association says the grant will help fund programs that address opioid abuse through strengthening community support and connecting patients with treatment and recovery services.

Florida has been hard hit by the opioid crisis, experiencing one overdose death every two-and-a-half hours.
