Girl, 5, Rushed To Hospital After Being Attacked By Dog In Miami

Authorities say a child was hospitalized after being attacked by a dog in Miami Wednesday while walking to church.

Doctors at Jackson Memorial Hospital are working to treat the wounds of the 5-year-old girl, identified only as Jocelyn, after she was bit on the leg near Northwest 21st Street and 24th Avenue.

According to authorities, the victim was walking to church with family when the animal attacked.

The child’s father later showed up at the scene and confronted the dog’s owner, who lives across the street.

The dog owner allegedly admitted that the animal is territorial and that another child was bit in January.

According to a report by 7News, the owner was seen Thursday morning putting the dog into the back of a car. It remains unclear whether Miami-Dade Animal Services will be picking up the dog.

The young girl is expected to be OK. Family said she has to undergo surgery at JMH.
