Croc Spotted In Key Largo May Have Come From Wildlife Refuge

There was a crocodile on the loose Wednesday morning in Key Largo, and officials believe it may have escaped from a nearby wildlife refuge.

Monroe County Sheriff's officers discovered the croc around 5:45 a.m. near mile marker 106. Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were immediately notified by law enforcement.

But by the time FWC officers arrived, the crocodile was gone, according to FWC Officer Bobby Dube said.

Lake Surprise and the Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge are not far away.

At last check, the croc had not been spotted again by officials.
