Unemployment Rates Are Dipping Down Across The Nation

The nation's unemployment lines are getting shorter.

Thursday morning's report from the Labor Department indicated that 215,000 Americans filed first-time claims for unemployment benefits last week.

That's 12,000 fewer than the previous week's total.

The biggest increases in initial claims were in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.

The steepest declines in claims were in California, Texas, Georgia, Michigan, and Illinois.
