Florida International University’s president confirmed on Friday that a female student was among the six dead after the collapse of a pedestrian bridge near the FIU campus Thursday afternoon.
“We just want answers,” said FIU President Mark Rosenberg. “We understand that one of the victims was a student … it’s up to the Medical Examiner’s to release the names.”
Recovery efforts continue Friday as crews work to remove the eight cars trapped underneath the rubble.
Officials are warning the recovery process will be slow.
