So, HOW Much Does Gun Violence Cost Florida Each Year?!

Every year in Florida, gun violence costs you and me - the taxpayers - nearly one billion dollars.

With more than 6,000 shootings in Florida every year, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence puts the overall economic cost on our state at more than $5 billion.

Healthcare costs alone cost more than $225 million. And law enforcement and criminal justice expenses weigh in at nearly $400 million.

As a whole, the law center 'conservatively' estimates that gun violence costs the American economy at least $229 billion every year, including $8.6 billion in direct expenses such as for emergency and medical care.

Even more, in the annual 'gun law scorecard', the law center gives Florida an "F" grade.
