MSDHS Student Shot Multiple Times Speaks Out

A student wounded in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is speaking out.

During an emotional press conference on Monday, MSDHS student Madeleine Wilford said she was happy that she is making a full recovery after being shot multiple times and thanked doctors and first responders.

The 17-year-old and her parents thanked everyone for the outpouring support they've received during her recovery and praised law enforcement for all their hard work.

Wilford suffered multiple gun shot wounds to her chest, abdomen and arm during the shooting in Parkland earlier this month (February 14).

Doctors said she was not responsive and was in shock when they began operating on her.  She underwent three separate surgeries and was discharged in less than seven days.

Doctors said officers who treated her chest wounds at the scene saved her life.
