President Donald Trump called a Broward sheriff’s deputy a coward after it as revealed that he was present during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting but stayed outside the building.
The deputy, Scot Peterson, “certainly did a poor job,” Trump said. He “didn’t react properly under pressure or they were a coward,” the president said to reporters as he left the White House Friday morning.
A former student armed with an AR-15-style rifle killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.
Trump has proposed training and arming some teachers to deter and fight assailants.
