Trump Defends Arming Teachers, Raising Purchase Age To Stop Sicko Shooters

President Donald Trump is defending his call to arm teachers as a way to stop a "savage sicko" from causing mass casualties, while also calling for gun control measures.

Trump said Thursday that he supports raising the gun purchase age to 21-years-old.

Turning to Twitter, Trump clapped back at media coverage of his comments regarding arming teachers the day before. He says his comments were misrepresented, but made clear that he support arming the 'top 20 percent' of teachers.

At the same time Thursday, Trump made clear that he will advocate for several new gun law restrictions.

It remains unclear whether Trump will push for a change in federal law or encourage a change at the state level.
