The Florida Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced Wednesday an emergency travel advisory warning immigrants and people of color traveling to Florida.
CAIR says the advisory warning is the result of a coalition of statewide groups fearing for the safety of immigrants and people of color in the area.
"Immigrants across Florida feel more threatened than ever before, with attacks on the national level being amplified by local anti-immigrant policies and corporations that refuse to protect their customers," the announcement says. "CAIR-Florida continues to fight to protect immigrants across the state of Florida as the anti-immigrant policies increases and their safety and security is compromised with each passing day. "
CAIR-Florida is the state's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties of all people, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
