Parents are demanding answers after a South Florida teacher has been let go.
In a letter, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in Miami says first-grade teacher Jocelyn Morfi is no longer employed.
Parents learned of the firing in a letter received on Thursday evening, which did not give a reason for the decision. On Friday morning, roughly 20 parents gathered at Sts. Peter and Paul to demand an explanation from the school principal.
Her firing allegedly came just days after she married her long-time partner, who is a woman.
“This weekend I married the love of my life and unfortunately I was terminated from my job as a result,” Morffi said in a post on social media. “In their eyes I’m not the right kind of Catholic for my choice in partner.”
Local outlets report that Morfi is looking at legal action against the school.
