Brightline To Add Safety Warning Signs Between Ft. Lauderdale, WPB

The company operating the Brightline high-speed train in Florida is putting up large electronic signs at several busy rail crossings following two recent deaths.

Last week, the high-speed train struck a 51-year-old bicyclist who pedaled around the gates in an attempt to beat the oncoming train. He became the fourth person killed since Brightline began conducting test runs early last year.

One week before that, the train struck and killed a 32-year-old woman crossing the tracks.

In response, Brightline launched a new safety awareness plan on Friday. It will include 20 signs that will be periodically moved among crossings between the company's two stations in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
