Man Accused Of Making Threats To Shoot Up Coral Springs School, Teacher

A 28-year-old man is facing charges after cops say he's confessed to making a threat of shooting up Coral Springs High School and one of its teachers.

Authorities say David Jean-Baptiste confessed to having called the school to say, "We are going to shoot this bi---- up!"

The campus was put on lockdown on Wednesday after receiving the call and a teacher, Joshua Simmons, getting a similar text from the man. 

According to police, Simmons was a romantic rival of Jean-Baptiste while they attended Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. 

Detectives found Jean-Baptiste sent several threatening text messages to Simmons. One read, "watch your back!" Others said, "Yo ni--- if I ever see u in person I'm shootin yo ass on sight" and "I'll sit in prison happy as fu--- knowing u dead n gone." 

David Jean-Baptiste is charged with written threats to kill and making a false report.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Jeff Payne at 954-346-1757.
