Study: FL Ranks Very Low On Best Places To Raise A Family

Hey, don't get us wrong -- we're big on Sunshine State pride and we've turned out just fine, thank you very much! But a new survey from Wallethub ranks Florida pretty LOW on the scale of best states to raise your family in.

According to Wallethub, Florida clocks in at 32 out of 50 in states to raise a family.

The Sunshine State scored poorly in areas such as:

  • Affordable housing (ranked 47 out of 50)
  • Fewest families with young kids (ranked 49 out of 50)
  • Divorce rate (ranked 48 out of 50)

The state did score well in one area: family fun (ranked 10 out of 50).

To determine the ranks, Wallethub compared the 50 states across 42 key indicators of family-friendliness, including data sets on median family salary, housing affordability, and unemployment rate.

The best place to raised a family? According to Wallethub, it's Massachusetts. New Mexico ranked as the worst.
