Burrrr.... The Animals At Zoo Miami Are Chilly!

Animals inside Zoo Miami are waking up to unusually cold temperatures this Thursday.

The cold weather temps in the 40s are not something the lions, turtles or even alligators are use to.

"Tonight's our first real cold front coming through so a lot of animals are prepared for the cold by giving them extra heat," Zoo Miami's Ron Magill said.

"Things like our primates, our orangutans, our gorillas, they're provided with extra bedding, hay and blankets that they use within their sleeping areas."

Zoo employees were busy putting up tarps around the elephant pin Wednesday, while Visitors were bundled up during the day before the real cold weather sets in.

The zoo will remain open during its regular hours, Magill noted. In fact, he says the colder weather may make for a more exciting trip to the zoo, as the animals may be more 'frisky' as they attempt to move around, burn some calories, and warm up.
