Authorities confiscated 41 dogs from two different locations in the city of Deltona.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported Wednesday the city is now investigating whether or not three people violated a city cruelty to animals ordinance. At this time, no one has been charged.
Deltona spokesman Lee Lopez said that after a month-long investigation into complaints of sick pedigree dogs being sold, animal control officers on Monday confiscated 33 adult dogs and eight puppies from two locations.
One resident was allegedly breeding and selling sick Yorkshire terriers, Pomeranians and Yorkie-Pom mixes both domestically and internationally. Some of the puppies were reportedly being sold for $1,000 each.
The dogs were all taken to Halifax Humane Society in Daytona Beach to be examined for health issues.
