The state of Florida is getting some financial help in its battle with lionfish.
Lionfish are a non-native invasive species that can reduce native fish populations and negatively affect the overall reef habitat.
In 2016 alone, 111,000 lionfish were successfully removed from Florida waters.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has received $25,000 in donations from six sponsors that will be used as cash prizes for its lionfish removal program.
The money will go to harvesters who find and remove lionfish previously tagged by FWC staff.
