A Hollywood man was believed to be intoxicated when he crashed the car he was driving into a tree Sunday night in Pembroke Pines, police said.
The crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the 1500 block of North Hiatus Road.
Authorities say 21-year-old Carlos Tamayo was driving south on Hiatus Road when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.
Police believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.
Tamayo was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with serious injuries.
Further charges could come pending an investigation.
