People Stuck On 70-75 Feet In Air On Hallandale Beach Carnival Ride

Four people attempting to enjoy Thanksgiving Day at the fair got a bit more than they bargained for on Thursday.

Hallandale Beach Fire Department officials say riders were trapped on a high-angle ride, about 70 to 75 feet in the air, for about 30 minutes.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials used a platform truck that provided a safer rescue than a ladder truck would have, investigators said.

Everyone was brought down to the ground safely and no one was hurt.

The ride, which has been described as the swings, will not be back in service until a state inspector can clear it -- which is expected to happen on Friday at the earliest.
