Reward Related To Tampa Serial Killer's Capture Grows To $110K

The reward for information leading to an arrest in the Tampa serial killings continues to grow.

Retired banker and philanthropist David Straz has contributed $10,000 to the reward for information leading to an arrest in the Seminole Heights killings, increasing the total to $110,000.

In a statement, Straz said he hopes the reward will hasten the apprehension of a suspect or suspects responsible for the four killings in the Seminole Heights neighborhood.

The reward grew to $100,000 last Thursday after a $9,000 contribution from Richard Gonzmart, owner of the Columbia and Ulele restaurants.

Most of the reward money comes from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Crime Stoppers, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI.

Another $6,000 was also donated by the Southeast Seminole Heights Civic Association, Liberty Property Management and a number of fund raising events.

City officials have pleaded with residents to step forward with the identity of whoever is responsible for four shooting deaths over the past five weeks.

Police officials say the department has received thousands of tips but needs precise information.

Anyone with any information about the shootings can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873 (TIPS).
