Florida Woman Accused Of Planting Tracking Device On Ex's Car To Stalk Him

Police say a Florida woman is accused of planting a tracking device in her ex-boyfriend's car in order to stalk him.

The victim told Seminole County Sheriff's officers that Erica Capps, the mother of his 18-month-old child, would inexplicably show up uninvited to places where he was.

According to a report, when the victim was visiting a frien in Altamonte Springs on Sept. 18, he got a message from Capps telling him to go outside. Capps allegedly began yelling at the victim when he went outside because she was upset he was at a woman's house.

Other incidents followed:

  • 10/18: Capps allegedly showed up uninvited to another of the victim's friend's homes in Maitland
  • October: Victim was shopping at Best Buy in Sanford when Capps approached him
  • Nov. 8: Victim had to leave Altamonte Springs Walgreens  because he saw Capps approaching him
    • Capps then allegedly followed the victim to his friend's apartment and initiated a verbal argument

The victim contacted deputies on Tuesday after he found a GPS tracking device on his vehicle. He told officers that Capps would also message him screenshots of his locations and ask why he was there.

Capps was arrested Friday on a stalking charge.

She has been released from jail on bond under the condition that she have no contact with the victim.

Capps said Monday that the incident was a "child custody case that got blown way out of proportion."
