FEMA Plans To Fly Up To 3,000 From Puerto Rico To Florida, New York

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is working on a plan to fly Puerto Ricans who are still living in shelters post-Hurricane Maria to the United States.

Nearly two months after the storm, approximately 3,000 people are still in shelters on the island.

According to FEMA’s website, the Transitional Shelter Assistance (TSA) program "provides short-term lodging assistance for evacuees who are not able to return home for an extended or indeterminate period of time following a disaster."

The agency will reportedly offer temporary housing in Florida and New York.

The large-scale relocation would be the first of its kind for the agency
