Police are investigating an alleged stabbing that took place overnight Wednesday in Big Pine Key.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office officials responded to reports of a fight just after midnight on Cunningham Lane.
Authorities found a 34-year-old victim in front of a house with what appeared to be a stab wound to the abdomen.
Two more deputies were called as backup, and a 51-year-old suspect was detained for questioning.
According to police, the suspect is the live-in boyfriend of the victim's mother, who was also present when the stabbing occurred.
The woman allegedly told deputies that the two men got into a fight, during which the victim was stabbed with a pocket knife.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
He is listed in stable condition.
No arrests have been made, but authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
