Trial Begins For Ex-Cop Accused Of Not Telling Sexual Partners He Has HIV

A 41-year-old police officer accused of having unprotected sex while infected with HIV is heading to trial.

Ervans Saintclair was a Greenacres officer until the allegations surfaced in 2014. Officials say he is now facing five major felony charges and, if convicted, could spend up to 30 years in prison.

Saintclair allegedly slept with a number of women in Palm Beach County without informing them that he had HIV.

It’s unclear whether any of the women contracted HIV as a result of their relations with the officer. The felony charges are based only on the claim that he didn’t inform any of them he had HIV before they had sex.

Jury selection will begin Tuesday in one of the cases while the trials involving the other women will be held later.
