Dozens of kids who are in the country illegally and their mothers are planning to gather in front of Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart's Doral offices Tuesday afternoon.
They're asking the Republican lawmakers to push for what's being called a Clean Dream Act.
The Clean Dream Act would provide permanent protection for hundreds of thousands of young people who were brought into the U.S. as children.
The rally outside of Rubio and Diaz-Balart's offices are set to begin at 5:45 p.m.
The groups are then planning to head to Washington as part of a national mobilization and walkout.
Last month, President Trump decided to phase out President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA provides temporary protection from deportation for nearly 800,000 individuals brought to the U.S. as minors.
Trump also challenged Congress to come up with a permanent bill addressing this specific group of undocumented immigrants before DACA phases out March 5.
With the 2017 Congressional session ending Dec. 15, immigrant advocates are calling on Congress to pass a newly proposed “Clean Dream Act” (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act) within the next month to prevent further delay.
