The president of the Florida Senate has hired an outside investigator after being accused of sexual harassment.
Apparently, the investigator will be examining allegations that Republican Senator Jack Latvala supposedly groped and harassed women.
Six women, who include Senate staff and lobbyists affiliated with both major parties, say Latvala either touched them inappropriately or made demeaning comments about their bodies.
The incidents, they said, occurred over a period of several years, happening in the privacy of Latvala’s Senate office or in public places like the Capitol rotunda, a bar or an elevator.
Latvala, the chairman of the Senate budget committee, denies the allegations and says he is being targeted because he is running for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
