Set Your Clocks Back! Daylight Savings Time Happens This Weekend

It's that time of year again... daylight savings time is ending and you'll get an extra hour of sleep this weekend!

Be sure to set the clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night, so that you can "fall back" along with the clocks.

The switch pushes sunrise and sunset back an hour. This will cause more light in the morning, and darkness coming sooner in the afternoon.

Most computers and cell phones now change their clocks automatically, but you will still need to fix your watch, microwave and car.

The twice-a-year change is also a good time to check the batteries in your smoke detector.

And while you're checking those batteries, Felipe Lay with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says you should also put together a fire evacuation plan for your home and make sure everyone is familiar with it.

Daylight Saving Time has been practiced on and off in the U.S. since 1918.

We will move the clocks again on March 11, 2018, springing forward an hour.
