Miami Beach Commission Candidate Accused Of Exposing Himself To Others

A Miami Beach commission candidate has been accused of exposing himself to a Miami Beach Commissioner.

Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez filed a report with police Tuesday, claiming "simple battery" by Rafael Velasquez in the Oct. 15 incident.

Velasquez, a candidate for the Group 2 commission seat, allegedly knocked on Rosen Gonzalez's door to ask if she would help with some political canvassing, according to the report.

The two decided to have dinner, and Rosen Gonzalez allegedly drove them to the restaurant.

After the dinner, Velasquez exposed himself, saying "C'mon, you know you want this. You know you want to touch it," the report said.

He then allegedly grabbed her hands, trying to force them from the steering wheel and onto his penis.

Rosen Gonzalez, who had endorsed Velasquez's campaign, said it was hard for her to come forward.

"My first thought was to ignore it, it was very painful for me to come forward but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that if I allow this man to get elected and he has power, how many other women is he going to abuse," she told reporters earlier this week.

On Monday, another woman came forward accusing Velasquez of sexual misconduct. A local publicist, Francis Alban, claims Velasquez grabbed her from behind and "groped" her at an event four months ago while taking a photo.

Since then, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party has pulled its endorsement of Velasquez.
