The Apple iPhone X (pronounced iPhone “TEN,” not “ex,” by the way) is due to arrive in stores tomorrow Friday.
Since it’s the most expensive smartphone ever, at $999, you might want to check out some of the reviews before standing in line on opening day.
The New York Times’ reviewer says it’s the best iPhone ever made.
So what is there to know about the iPhone X? Here's a quick overview of just some of the changes:
- The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen (for comparison, the iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch screen)
- The iPhone X’s overall body is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus
- The iPhone’s has no bezel (the border surrounding the display)
- The screen takes up the entire face of the device, with the exception of a notch at the top containing the infrared face scanner
- No home button
- Apple has included a shortcut on the phone called Reachabiliy, which lowers the top of the screen to make it easier for one-handed users to reach for buttons or apps on the top row with their thumb
It’s “incredibly fast” and takes “exceptional photos.” It also has “creepily accurate” facial recognition software.
Then again, the reviewer notes, there are plenty of very good phones out there for a lot less than $999.
