Actor Kevin Spacey issued an apology late Sunday after fellow actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making sexual advances on him when he 14-years-old.
In an interview with BuzzFeed, Rapp claimed he attended a party in 1986, at Spacey's apartment.
A "drunk" Spacey, then about 26, allegedly lay him on a bed and climbed on top of him, "pressing into me," Rapp said.
"He was trying to seduce me," Rapp added. "I don't know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually."
The Oscar-winning "House of Cards" actor, now 58, issued a response on Twitter. "I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago.
"But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years."
Spacey also addressed his sexuality, coming out for the first time, publicly, as a gay man.
"I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man," Spacey wrote. "I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior."
The nature of his response led to criticisms about why Spacey would address those two matters (abuse and his sexual orientation) together.
The allegation against Spacey comes on the heels of numerous sexual misconduct accusations against movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
More than 40 women have accused Weinstein of inappropriate behavior, ranging from sexual harassment to rape.
Other men have been accused of sexual harassment and misconduct since then.
