Two people are dead as a result of an early morning crash Friday that closed part of Florida's Turnpike in Southwest Miami-Dade.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say the incident involved a Homestead police prisoner transport van and two other vehicles.
Officials confirmed that the accident claimed the lives of two individuals involved.
The crash caused parts of the Turnpike between Southwest 216th Street and Caribbean Boulevard to shutdown for nearly four hours Friday morning.
Commuters were forced onto local roads during the morning rush.
