A former Florida sheriff's office employee has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge related to the death of a private investigator.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that 40-year-old Ashley McArthur was arrested Thursday after Escambia County sheriff's officers found 33-year-old Taylor Wright's body in a wooded area.
McArthur is a former Escambia County Sheriff's Office employee.
Wright was a private investigator and former police officer in Jacksonville, North Carolina, who had been missing since Sept. 7.
Deputies found his body in North Pensacola.
Pensacola Police Department spokesman Mike Wood told the newspaper that McArthur and Wright knew each other, but would not elaborate.
McArthur was released on a $1 million bond after her initial appearance Friday morning.
Her next court date is Nov. 19.
