State officials met Monday to discuss how to avoid future tragedies from taking place, in wake of the deaths of nursing home patients in Hollywood following Hurricane Irma.
Representatives from the union representing health care workers across the state met with State Senator Anitere Flores and others in Miami to discuss proper care and procedures for facilities in anticipation of a future storm of natural disaster.

Fourteen total residents from the Rehabilitation Center of Hollywood Hills have died over the course of the past month, following the storm.
More than 100 people were evacuated from the rehab center after the air conditioner broke.
Some of those who died at body temperatures near 109 degrees.
A criminal investigation continues as the facility recently laid off 245 workers while its license has been suspended from the state pending the outcome.
