Postal Worker Sentenced For Taking Bribes To Deliver Drug Packages

A former Florida Postal Service worker has been sentenced to a year of house arrest after admitting she took bribes to deliver packages containing marijuana.

A federal judge imposed the relatively lenient sentence, which also includes a year of probation, on 54-year-old Evelyn Price, of Deerfield Beach, after finding she had no prior criminal record, mentored children at local churches and did other good deeds.

Price allegedly accepted about $500 in bribes from a man known as "Steve" after agreeing to provide addresses where the drug packages could be sent along her Boca Raton route.

Price would then retrieve them and give them to "Steve."

"Steve" was never arrested.

When Price was caught last year, investigators seized packages containing about 20 pounds of marijuana.

Price had faced up to 18 months in prison.
