A Key Largo man found himself behind bars after authorities say he fired a gun and greeted responding officers while intoxicated and in the nude.
Authorities responded to the scene Tuesday, after receiving calls of gunfire coming from a home along Transylvania Avenue. When Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, they found the front and back doors to the house open.
Deputies called for the resident, later identified as 66-year-old Roger Scheid, to come out. He did so, naked and apparently intoxicated, according to police.
Authorities say a fully loaded shotgun was found on the bed in one of the bedrooms, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun was found on a pile of clothing.
Deputies also found two spent shell casings near the back porch.
Scheid told deputies conflicting stories as to why he fired the shots into the air.
He was arrested on two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
