Representatives of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are expected, Thursday, to be on site in Miami Gardens where the scaffolding at a television tower collapsed, killing three people.
The tower transmits signals for Channels 7 and 10 and is located on Northwest 207th Street. The scaffolding was believed to be near the top of the 12-hundred-50 foot tower when the collapse occurred Wednesday at around 4 p.m.
The victims were not employees of the television stations, but were with a group from Texas contracted to upgrade a transmission antenna for Channel 7.
Channel 7 released a statement that read, “We are saddened by this tragic event. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of the three men who died. They worked for a company hired by Channel 7 to perform work on the tower that was required by the FCC.”
The names of the workers have not been released. The investigation continues.
