FL Mom Says She Kidnapped Her Adult Daughter To Get Her Into Drug Rehab

A Florida woman charged with traveling to Massachusetts to kidnap her grown daughter says she did it to force her heroin-addicted daughter into treatment.

Orlando resident Laura Goodrow was sentenced to a year of probation Wednesday after pleading to sufficient facts for a guilty finding to kidnapping and assault and battery charges.

The 44-year-old Goodrow says she felt she had no choice.

Goodrow allegedly obtained an order from Orange County court to force her daughter into treatment.

But when she learned the order was not valid outside of Florida, Goodrow came up with another plan — she decided to come to Massachusetts with her son and take her daughter back to Florida.

She and her adult son, 28-year-old Justin Pike, traveled up the coast in March. Her son got her daughter to agree to a car ride, and he drove to a park where Goodrow and her son attempted to restrain her daughter and take her to Florida.

A neighbor who heard screams called police.

The son also received a year of probation. Goodrow says her daughter is still using.
