Local Museums Offer Discounts In Wake Of Hurricane Irma

Looking for something to do while the kids are still out of school? In need of a post-storm pick-me-up? Local museums are offering deals and discounts to help bring the community some relief.

To honor emergency dispatchers and first responders, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science will offer special discounts to first responders, military and veterans with a valid ID, according to a news release.

Those responders, military, and vets are able to bring up to five people with them at the discounted rate.

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science re-opens Friday. The special discount is valid until Oct.1, the museum said.

The Pérez Art Museum will also be granting free admission to South Florida residents on Sept. 14 and 15.

In addition, the Pérez Art Museum will host happy hour specials -- including a "hurricane specialty cocktail" -- from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. On both Thursday and Friday, the museum’s Verde restaurant and bar will be open, as well as arts and crafts at the Vattikuti Learning Theatre.
