Six people are dead and 120 were evacuated from a Hollywood nursing home because of an air-conditioning issue, officials said.
According to officials, residents of the nursing home were suffering from intense heat cause by a lack of electricity following Hurricane Irma.
The incident happened at the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills at 1200 N. 35th Avenue, Hollywood Police officials said.
Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief confirmed six people have died, but it remains unknown whether or not the deaths are specifically related to the heat.
Sharief added that three of the deaths occurred at the nursing home, and three took place as the victims were being transported to the hospital.
The identities of the victims are unknown at this time.
Officials said the building has been without power since Hurricane Irma struck earlier this week.
