FIU Reopens Campus Library, All Other Facilities Remain Closed

Florida International University is beginning to reopen the first of its campus buildings following Hurricane Irma closure.

FIU opened the Green Library on Tuesday. The university says the library has limited services, but that electricity, Wi-Fi, and some computers are available to students, faculty and staff.

For now, the Green Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those wishing to enter must present a valid, FIU identification card.

All other FIU locations remain closed at this time, including on-campus and online classes, which are still canceled until further notice.

If you plan to visit the FIU campus from an off-campus location, university officials ask that you please enter the campus through Southwest 8th Street and 112th Avenue and park in PG6.

Students who live on campus but spent the storm off campus should remain off campus until further notice.

FIU says a call center will be open starting on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to answer questions related to hurricane recovery and campus operations.

The call center number is 305-348-HELP (4357).

You can call this number outside of the call center hours for recorded updates regarding university operations.
