In order to protect the many animals they house, the Humane Society of Broward County transported hundreds of animals to California Thursday morning, on the heels of Hurricane Irma’s South Florida impact.
They are on their way to Northern California thanks to assistance from the stony LaRussa Animal Rescue Foundation (where they will be housed), Wings of Rescue (allowing them to fly courtesy), FreeKibble.com, GreaterGood.org and the Rescue Bank,” said the Broward Humane Society on Instagram.
Volunteers in South Florida have their own preparations to make, but some have decided to take care of animals that need a home during the storm.
The rescue shelter receiving these animals, LaRussa, will also transfer them to other shelters and rescues in the California Bay Area.
