Counties throughout the state are struggling to keep up with the demand for sand bags throughout their communities
Hillsborough County is out of sand for sandbags. The county also says it is out of bags, for that matter.
The county says it had been distributing 10,000 bags per hour. The distribution sites will reopen once more sand is delivered, but it's not clear when that will happen.
Residents of Hillsborough County can call (813) 272-5900 to request additional information.
Similarly, Polk County Emergency Management is expecting a shipment of sandbags to arrive from out-of-state sometime Friday.
Sand is also being replenished at 15 fire stations around the county.
At four of those sites, workers will be there to help fill the bags until 6:00 p.m. Friday. The sites with helpers are Caloosa Lake, Cottonwood, Crystal Lake Support Station and Cypress Garden.
