Criminal Busted For Attempting To Steal Purse During State Of Emergency

With everyone else preoccupied and busy preparing as Hurricane Irma inches closer to South Florida, this one thief thought he could get away with a crime without anyone noticing him.

Nicholas Rosselle, 29, of Margate, was arrested Tuesday in Oakland Park on charges of burglary conveyance and petit theft.

Deputies say they responded to Publix at 1003 E. Commercial Blvd just after 11 a.m., where witnesses claimed a man broke into a vehicle in the parking lot and stole a purse.

Authorities located the suspect a short time after at a Speedway gas station at 5002 N. Dixie Highway. Authorities say they also found the victim's purse on Resselle's person.

Rosselle is currently being held without bond pending trial.

In a news release, Broward County Sheriff's officers warn: "Let this be a warning to other criminals that even during a state of emergency our BSO deputies are always ready to respond."
