Broward County Schools Close Ahead Of Hurricane Irma

Broward County School Superintendent Robert Runcie has announced that all schools will be closed both Thursday and Friday, ahead of Hurricane Irma. 

All extracurricular and athletics events are canceled as of Wednesday evening. 

Similarly, he Archdiocese of Miami said all elementary and high schools in Broward and Miami-Dade counties will be closed both Thursday and Friday.

American Heritage School will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Broward College will close starting Thursday and will stay closed through the weekend. 

"Broward College is in constant communication with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service, Broward County Emergency Operations Center and other agencies to receive the latest projections and information on Hurricane Irma," the school said in a release Wednesday. 

All NOVA Southeastern University campuses will be closed Thursday. The campuses will be closed until further notice.
