Broward County: Here's Where To Fill Your Sand Bags

As Hurricane Irma nears South Florida, both residents and businesses are gearing up to combat its potential impact. 

The number of distribution sites for sand bags has grown in each county, including Broward. 

Need to fill up a sand bag? Here's where and when you can do just that throughout Broward County:

FOR DEERFIELD BEACH RESIDENTS:  

  • 200 Goolsby Blvd. in Deerfield Beach
    • 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday (or while supplies last)
    • 10 bags per household 
    • Bring proof of residency (for Deerfield Beach) and photo ID

FOR FORT LAUDERDALE RESIDENTS: 

  • Mills Pond Park, 2201 NW 9th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale
    • Starts Wednesday at noon
    • 5 bags per vehicle on first-come, first-serve basis
    • Must show proof of Fort Lauderdale residency with driver’s license or ID card
    • Residents must bag sand themselves

FOR HALLANDALE BEACH RESIDENTS: 

  • Hallandale Beach DPW Compound, 630 NW 2nd St. will distribute at most
    • Beginning noon Thursday 
    • 6 bags per person  
    • Hallandale Beach residents and business owners 
      • Proof of Hallandale Beach residency required
      • Business owners may use business tax receipt to show proof of business location

FOR MIRAMAR RESIDENTS: 

  • All beginning noon Thursday:
    • Miramar Multi-Service Center, 6700 Miramar Parkway
    • Miramar Adult Daycare Facility, 8915 Miramar Parkway 
    • Sunset Lakes Community Center at 2801 SW 186th Ave.
      • 10 bags per household
      • Must provide proof of Miramar residency

FOR OAKLAND PARK RESIDENTS: 

  • Oakland park Public Works Department, 5100 NE 12th Ter.
    • Wednesday
    • 10 bags per person
    • Oakland Park residents and businesses with proof of residency

FOR POMPANO BEACH RESIDENTS: 

  • Pompano Beach Public Works Trash Transfer Station, 1400 NE 3rd Ave. 
    • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday
    • 5 bags per resident
    • Residents will need to fill their own bags
  • Standford and Sons, 1081 NW 12th Ter.
    • Wednesday
