City Of Miami Beach Offering Free Sand Bags To Residents

Reminder: The City of Miami Beach is handing out free sandbags to their residents. 

Miami Beach Police and Miami Beach Fire resumed the filling and distributing of sandbags at 6 a.m. Wednesday. 

Residents are asked to bring a valid ID as proof of residency in order to receive sand bags. 

Those interested can get bags at 451 Davie Boulevard, located behind Miami Beach High School.

Like many in South Florida, the City of Miami Beach is preparing for possible flooding in advance of Hurricane Irma.

The city announced they would distribute sandbags to residents starting Tuesday. 

Officials said 10 bags would be given to each family who pick them up at 451 Dade Blvd. 

Sandbags will be also be distributed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day until the city runs out or must stop due to inclement weather.

Residents must show identification in order to receive the sandbags.
