Portion Of Miami Beach Closes Due To Fecal Bacteria In The Water

Authorities closed an area of Miami Beach Wednesday at 53rd Street and Collins Avenue after the Florida Department of Health deemed the water unsafe.

Two water samples did not meet the recreational water quality standard for enterococci, a bacteria in humans and animals’ intestines.

According to a report, the bacteria levels "may pose increased risk of illness."

The beach will reopen when samples come back clean.
